  MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT (PDF)
HERE Front Range Environmental Resource Coalition meeting on the proposed gas drilling, Tue.,  Apr. 1, 7 p.m., Lewis-Palmer District 38 Administration Building, 146 Jefferson Street. The meeting’s purpose is to inform area residents about the proposed gas drilling in Pike National Forest by Dyad Petroleum Co. of Midland, Texas. In the 1980s Dyad leased approximately 21,000 acres from the National Forest Service to explore the area for natural gas reserves. As reported in the January 13, Gazette, the first proposed site for drilling is to be near the corner of Red Rocks Drive and Mt. Herman Road, within about ¼ mile of homes in the Red Rocks Subdivision. This area is also close by the homes located in Forest View Estates, Shilo Pines, Cloven Hoof and Red Rock Reserve subdivisions, which together include approximately 400 home sites. A presentation will be made of the known plans of Dyad Petroleum for exploration in our area, the history and effects of such drilling in other areas of the country and a time for questions. All citizens who want to learn more about this issue are invited to attend. Dyad has been invited to participate and to make its plans known.
