Sunday Sept 25 from 1:30 PM to 5 PM. Our Homeowners will have a doubles demonstration featuring Ron and Mary George and 2 other good players. They will play for 20 to 25 minutes. Following this there will be an opportunity for open play, coaching, and questions and answers.
We will also have some high end loaner equipment for people to try. Portable nets will be set up on the ends of the court for practice and instruction. Residents will be encouraged to bring their own refreshments. The court is playing quite nicely, as the original slab is really in good shape.
Hope to see you there!

The HOA Board has presented a Covenant change ballot to the HOA members due (post marked or otherwise received by the Board) no later than October 7. This ballot is a part of the settlement of the recent lawsuit. There have been a few homeowner questions about the proposed changes.

The only proposed changes to the existing Covenants are related to Article 20.  There are sections of Article 20 that, other than formatting, are unchanged from the original Covenants:

a) Firearms and fireworks, No change
b) Excavations, No change
c) Wells, No Change
d) Laundry, No Change

The only changes proposed are with regards to section b; Animals and Pets.

The first ballot option for Article 20 (Option 1) restates the current covenants defining what a Household pet is... kept inside the home as a pet. All other animals will not be allowed, and there is a short example (but emphasized) list of horses, pigs, poultry or goats. You cannot have a kennel for commercial breeding, and your animal/s cannot impact your neighbor.  This option clarifies the current HOA Covenant for the future.

The second option for Article 20 (Option 2) includes the formatting changes proposed in Option 1 but also allows an exemption for a homeowner to keep chickens.  (While not addressed in the Covenant language, a homeowner may have an unlimited number of chickens per the El Paso County Land Development Code if the owner has at least a one-acre lot).

Either Option 1 or Option 2 would need 51% approval of the HOA homeowners with this vote to be included in the Covenants.

Option 3, means no changes to the current Covenants which is not as desirable as Option 1 or 2 as the existing language regarding animals (particularly chickens) has caused confusion and contention among the HOA members.

The Board believes that majority support for Option 1 (no chickens) or 2 (chickens permitted) will be in the best interest of the HOA.

Upcoming Covenant Change Vote:

Pursuant to the recent resolution of the lawsuit against the HOA, an agreement was reached to

poll the HOA members regarding updating the existing Covenants (paragraph 20) to clearly state whether keeping chickens at HOA properties are allowed or not. In addition to the question of keeping

chickens, the HOA has been asked to consider allowing the short-term (7 days) use of goats for Firewise mitigation.

The HOA Board of Directors is soliciting any comments and/or suggestions from our members regarding changes to Paragraph 20 of the Covenants related to the raising of chickens and/or the short-term use of goats. Such comments should be provided to the Board no later than July 31, 2022 by mail (PO Box 1463, Monument, CO 80132), email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), or by direct verbal contact with any Board member. Following the receipt and consideration of member comments/suggestions regarding these Paragraph 20 issues, a ballot will be mailed to all HOA members regarding specific changes to Paragraph 20 of the Covenants. Approval of at least 51% of the HOA membership is required to change or modify the existing Covenant language
